Made to Be Messy
Thereās something magical that happens when you hand kids a blank canvas, a handful of paint, and absolutely no rules.
This session, lovingly named Chaos on Canvas, was everything I hoped it would be and more. Aubrey and Olivia stepped into the space with curiosity, a little hesitation, and just enough mischief to turn a simple setup into something unforgettable.
At first, it started quietly. Careful brush strokes. Concentration. That moment where theyāre still deciding how āmessyā theyāre allowed to be.
And then⦠it shifted.
Paint moved from canvas to hands, from hands to arms, and eventually everywhere in between. Giggles turned into full belly laughs. The kind that make their shoulders shake and their eyes sparkle. The kind you canāt pose, canāt force, and definitely canāt recreate.
Thatās where the magic lives.
This session wasnāt about perfect smiles or clean outfits. It was about freedom. Expression. Letting kids be exactly who they are in the moment. Aubrey and Olivia leaned into every bit of it, and what unfolded was pure joy. Unfiltered, colorful, a little wild, and completely beautiful.
As a photographer, these are the moments I chase. The in-between ones. The ones where they forget the camera is even there. Where connection takes over and personalities shine through in the most honest way.
And letās be honest⦠thereās something really special about capturing childhood in its messiest, happiest form.
To Aubrey and Olivia, thank you for bringing your laughter, your creativity, and your fearless energy. You made this session something truly unforgettable.
And to the mamas who are considering a Chaos on Canvas session⦠yes, itās messy. Yes, it might mean an extra bath that night. But itās also full of the kind of memories youāll never want to wash away.
Because sometimes, the most beautiful moments are the ones that donāt stay perfectly inside the lines.
With warmth,
